  A discovery that revolutionized science
  It all began in 1908, when the Bouyssonie brothers unearthed the first complete Neanderthal skeleton deep within the Bouffia Bonneval cave. This exceptional specimen, over 50,000 years old, radically changed our understanding of humanity. The image of the "brute" gave way to that of a being capable of solidarity and funerary rituals, a scientific revolution that the new scenographic exhibition brilliantly explores.
  An immersive and multi-sensory experience
  Since July 2025, the site has offered a total immersion in the heart of the scientific adventure. The public discovers the meticulous reconstruction of the skeleton exhumation and is immersed in the atmosphere of the time thanks to striking sets and objects relating to the world of the discoverers and scientists.
  A true space for playful discovery, the site encourages interaction : visitors can touch, test their knowledge, and step into the shoes of a prehistorian in the laboratory or experimental area. In 1.5 hours, visitors follow in the footsteps of these pioneers, blending reflection and emotion to uncover the secrets of evolution.

We were very disappointed by the reception we received at the museum on November 2nd; we arrived for the visit at 4:10 pm and the person turned us away rudely, stating that the last visit had already taken place and that the museum was closed for the season; the information provided both on the internet and in the newspaper La Vie Corrézienne stated that the museum was open from 2 pm to 6 pm, whereas there is an audio guide and not a guide.

We greatly appreciated the scenography chosen to present the discovery and story of the man from La Chapelle aux Saints. We also highly enjoyed the various presentations offered in the second part of the visit. Thank you for the excellent offerings of this brand-new museum.
