    • The medieval city of Égletons is the ideal base for nature lovers. Here, we are between the Dordogne gorges, the Millevaches plateau and the Monédières, what more could you ask for? Lakes, hiking, a generous fauna and flora , circuits to do by bike or mountain bike, water activities, it is a real paradise. In terms of history, Égletons is intimately linked to the Vendatours, who established the status of economic and political center of the city in the Middle Ages. The Ventadour Castle is also only a few kilometers from the city. You will visit the Middle Ages Discovery Center to find out more. Égletons also boasts an interesting contemporary heritage, driven by one of its elected officials in the 20th century. To visit the city, the easiest way is to follow the Cœur de Ville Égletons circuit (fr), so as not to miss any of the monuments and key points, while benefiting from explanations. There are also 2 heritage circuits, to be discovered at the Tourist Office; To the west of the city, to find out more about a man who is also contemporary, go to the Museum of President Jacques Chirac, in Sarran. In Darnets, visit the Castle of Lieuteret, which is reopening its doors after 25 years of closure. Open during the summer, you can admire beautiful woodwork.

      In terms of leisure and sports activities, to gain height and admire the landscape, go to the Sentier du Puy de la Tourte (Soudeilles). Still in this sector, at a place called Monjanel, come and walk along the Deiro stream to admire a waterfall and a mill. Back from hiking, jumped into the swimming pool at the Égletons aqua-recreational centre. Unless you prefer the shores of Lake Deiro precisely? 11ha of lake with supervised swimming, ball games and playgrounds.

      Fans of starry skies, bivouacs with the Milky Way as the only tent, will enjoy a holiday at the Plateau des Millevache, labeled RICE: International Starry Sky Reserve. “It means what it means”, right? In Sourdeilles, Darnets, Sarran and the surrounding area, light pollution is controlled to impress you, once the sun is on the other side of the earth.


      Focus on the Abandoned Village of Clédat: Free access all year round, it's a sleepy village that pops up out of nowhere! Its origins date back to the 12th century. You will see a thatched cottage, a chapel, a bread oven, ruins and rocky chaos... In the town of Gransaigne, in the state forest of Larfeuil, you can reach it by a forest path 20km away. of Egletons. Guided tours take place on weekends and public holidays in July and August, but you can walk around freely. In the car park, you will find topoguides for hiking. You can also consult them on the website of the association which manages the village of Clédat (fr). A lot of restoration work has been undertaken for twenty years so that this place benefits everyone, thank you for respecting this magical place!

      The highlight of the show is Le Château de Vendatour. Ruins that speak volumes about its ancient medieval importance. It dominates two valleys and will make you relive the history of the troubadours. It was the seat of the Viscount of Ventadour. It is 6 km east of Égletons.
