Brive-la-Gaillarde is not the Prefecture of Corrèze. But it is, with around 50,000 inhabitants, the most important city. Its dynamism proves it, while its relaxed and energetic atmosphere always attracts.

Brive-la-Gaillarde is indeed worth the detour. Its city center , mainly pedestrian, can be visited in half a day. The map provided by the Tourist Office will allow you to discover its charming streets, its attractive shops and boutiques, its pretty monuments and its interesting museums.

The must of your walk, the Saturday morning market , a real institution in Brive! It is the Georges-Brassens hall, in which it takes place, which made it so famous. Come and get lost there to discover all the Corrèze gastronomy.

Taste Corrèze specialties

The local products of Corrèze are generous, like its nature.

The region is a land of mushrooms, chestnuts, apples with an AOP such as the Limousin apple, small red fruits (especially the legendary Monédières blueberry), walnuts (you can even take the Route de la Noix).

Freshwater fish are also raised there, which have no shortage of places to flourish, Limousin Label rouge beef , milk-fed calves , black-breasted pigs , geese and ducks which can be enjoyed whole, in foie gras, in preserves... Added to this are sweet delights (jam and honey) as well as cheeses, including the melting Feuille du Limousin.

If you are a gourmet, you can taste all these products in the restaurants of Corrèze, find them on the colorful, fragrant and tasty stalls of the markets, in the producers' stores, or directly on the farm. You can even pick them, combining pleasure and a stroll that always pleases young and old!
