Donzenac is a "stopover village", perfect for taking a break in the shade of its old stones which bear witness to a collective memory, a rich past that the town (notably through an association) wishes to preserve and share. It is one of the oldest villages in Corrèze. Its beginnings date back to Roman times, then fortifications were established there to protect the first castrum. In the 13th century, the Saint-Martin church was built there. The Middle Ages is one of the well-represented eras that you will have the pleasure of admiring during a walk in the alleys (alleys) of the village. The city was very prosperous, up to 3000 inhabitants and the vine was one of the important economic drivers with 1/3 of the arable land of the town planted with vines towards the end of the 19th century. A walk in Donzenac will take you through the ramparts, the Gothic church and its listed bell tower, the remains of the Couvent des Cordeliers and the Porte Maleguise. Here is the map of the town of Donzenac (fr), as well as the map of the hiking trails (fr) to do in the surroundings, prepared by the Town Hall.
