About

  • English
    • Uzerche is installed on the banks of the Vézère, nestled in a meander of the river. It is estimated that its occupation dates back to the Gallic era, probably due to its strategic location. You will walk there to discover its Saint-Pierre Abbey, enthroned at the top of the city, watchtower of the landscapes. Its architectural style is pure, Romanesque with an octagonal bell tower with finesse. Uzerche is adorned with beautiful residences, looking like small châtelets with towers, which can be discovered by walking through its cobbled streets. Many craftsmen have taken up residence in Uzerche, making the walk pleasant through the workshops and shops. Stroll towards the eco-district of the old paper mill, renovated by an architect, where you can discover art in all its forms, even urban! It is a very beautiful place of cultural expression. Uzerche is part of the Most Beautiful Detours of France, but it is also an interesting place to put down your suitcases and explore the surroundings. In summer, Uzerche animates its auditorium with concerts and other events. For a walk, consult or pick up the Uzerche heritage map at the tourist office. 2 routes allow you to visit the city at your own pace and in the footsteps of Simone de Beauvoir, writer who was inspired by these peaceful landscapes in her childhood. A 4km circuit is dedicated to it.
